New rims and tires on the truck! Cragar soft 8s in 17x9 with 275/55 Toyo Proxes ST II. I'm more than happy with how they look. In fact, I love how it looks.

Best get some hubcaps, son.

Terrific wheels!
They give a better look as a whole.
How does it run?

nah, it looks good that way, like these ones

I agree. Gives it a good stance. I'm planning on doing a 2.5/4 drop later down the line (when I happen upon the money), and I think the truck and rims and tires will look really good with that.
It runs pretty good. The carb definitely needs a cleaning, but I'm torn between doing that, and just moving forward with my planned purchase of a new intake and carb.

I opted not to get the Cragar hubcaps. Thought it looks pretty sweet without them.

yes it looks real good like your trucks, all black

Your opinion on hubcaps is bad and you should feel bad.
/at least clean off the spindle rust

Yea I'll definitely do that. Clean off the rust and paint em black. I just thought the chrome would be a bad look.
That said, once I hunt down all the trim for the truck, I might have to go back and buy the hubcabs (they're like $4 each). The shinyness will compliment the other shinyness.

What's the badge say on the fender? Rims look good, I like the truck too. I'm always a little in the market for something similar, then I bitch out (there also isn't actually much for sale either). Something like a mid-nineties reg cab 1500

The Cragar Soft 8 is one of my favorite wheels ever , the other being the RS Watanabe F8.

It's a 1974 Chevy Super Cheyenne. So the badge says Super Cheyenne/10 (C10 truck). I like it a lot. Got it for a steal too at $2100.

Oh right on! I tried making it out but couldn't, thought maybe it was a custom badge and had meaning to you; personal touch.
I'm hesitant about buying old and high mileage vehicles. I've never bought a car with more than 50,000km (what is that? 30,000 miles? ish) and nothing has been over 5 years old at time of purchase.
I'm fine mechanically, I don't have a hoist to pull and engine, but anything else I'm equipped for, and between my own knowledge, my brother's, and forums I'd be fine. But my concern is having a driveway anchor.

Love that look. My only problem with those wheels is the weight. You've got about 75 lbs at each corner. When I look for rims for my '85 C10 I'm gonna try to keep it at or below my current 60 lbs (235/75R15 w/ 15x8 steelies). M/T Classic III black is an option but they don't look quite as good as soft eights.
BTW, look forward to seeing more of this project.

Assuming the carb is the original Q-jet, buy Cliff Ruggles' book and rebuild...and of course an Edelbrock 2101 intake couldn't hurt.
If you want to spare yourself the daunting and traumatic but ultimately life-affirming experience of rebuilding a Q-jet properly, check out the guys at Sean Murphy Induction.

Yea, they are 40 pound rims. But for $95 each, they can't really be beat. Plus, I'm not overly concerned about the added weight over the stockers. Sure, if I was autocrossing the truck, it'd be slightly problematic, but for a pretty much street/strip project, I don't mind the weight.
And thanks. If you read the related stories I've tagged all the posts, and there will be more coming.
And if you want authorship to Oppo, talk to nobody, or Porsche, or someone. I can put an alert out if you'd like.

Awesome wheels. Simple, utilitarian, KICK ASS! Well done.

I'm with you here. That rig is just begging for stock 15s and caps. Maybe even a set of Whitewalls..
